We all know push ups are so effective in strengthening the pectoral muscles, triceps, shoulders, core, back and stabilizer muscles…
But what’s better doing them fast or slow?
Slower push ups put more strain on your muscles (more time under tension) and help you focus on form, thereby increasing muscle mass and strength. Faster pushups make it more of an aerobic exercise, and will help you gain endurance and explosive power.
In Surge we mix both fast and slow push ups as well as add variation like the grasshoppper push up to help you reap ALL of these benefits and more.
In this week’s chest track of the week “AOK” we use a slow ladder down push up to create more muscle time and under tension and then add a quicker paced grasshopper push up to add variation and power.
So tell us, what do you prefer? Faster or slower push ups?
